Can Diet and Exercise Cure Acne?

A lot of people ask me if diet and exercise can cure acne when their dermatologist tells them it can’t. The fact of the matter is this: Diet and exercise are the ONLY things that can completely cure your acne for good.
So why does your dermatologist say this? Either ignorance, or pressure from the drug companies. You see, diet and exercise does not put money in the pockets of the acne industry, so why would they want you to have this information? It’s sad, but true. Your acne is a business to them and nothing more.
With that being said, getting on the right diet and exercise regime cured me after 10+ years with acne, and it will do the same for you if you are motivated enough to stick to the plan.
Diet: As far as diet goes, you simply must avoid any acne promoting foods (or foods that cause inflammation) such as vegetable oils, excess sugar, and saturated fat. There are more, but those are 3 of the biggest culprits. Base your diet around whole foods (but even some of these should be avoided if you are prone to acne.)
Exercise: It doesn’t have to be 2 hours at the gym everyday, but I highly suggest you get at least 30 minutes of some sort of cardiovascular exercise 4-5 times a week. If you can do more, great. Aerobic exercise improves circulation, balances out hormones, and help you sweat out acne causing toxins.
There’s a 3rd step that is optional but I highly recommend it, and it’s supplementation. A high quality multi-vitamin, as well as 3 other supplements that are all natural and relatively inexpensive will speed along the clearing process dramatically.
If you want to get completely clear in anywhere from 4-7 weeks depending on the severity of your acne, check out my blog today. You will thank yourself for it later.
