Acne and the Teen Years

I had terrible times when I was a teenager. I missed out on one too many social events and lost many many opportunities just sitting at home feeling sorry for my self. All this because of the one thing that I let rule my life:

ACNE!

I tried all the treatments one can find. Cheap and expensive, sometimes my skin would show small signs of improvement but after a while I was back to square one. Sometimes even worse off than before. All this was happening in my prime years when the rest of my friends were going out to movies and parties, but I couldn’t accompany them because I felt that I looked hideous.

In my last year of high school, I stumbled upon the biggest secret to effectively and completely finish my acne. The lifestyle of a teenager continues to grow in complexity and as such continues to create an environment where acne cannot and will not be cured. I used to drink about 6 cups of coffee a day, munch on at least four chocolate energy bars( which means that they were laced with caffeine) and generally eat a pack of french fries every so often. For those who are reading this, you probably think I was overweight and had very disgusting eating habits which you do not have. Wrong! You probably do the exact same thing I was doing but in some kind of variation. Many carbonated drinks, especially colas contain more caffeine than 6 cups of coffee. And tons of sugar too!

In short this is what I am trying to say. Change your lifestyle. We are what we eat and if I was to immerse myself into the effect that these kinds of foods wreck on our skin, there would not be enough paper in the world to fill! Here are a few lifestyle tips that will clear those zits:

Drop the candy bar, the cup of coffee or can of soda and definitely the pack of fries. Sugars set your glands into hyper-activity that causes more pimples to appear.
Clean your skin well. Using cold water and non-oil based soap twice a day is bound to aerate those pores.
Drink lots of water. Not only does the water clean out the toxins that have accumulated over time, water constitutes most of our sweat, which naturally cleans out pores.
Eat lots of fruit and vegetables as opposed to those snacks and goodies. These not only provide the crucial vitamins to good health, but good skin too.
Try to supplement your diet with vitamins.
