Most every human being has had a battle with acne. In order to choose the correct treatment you should understand what acne is and how some people have more of a battle with it than others. Acne can be cause by genetics, stress, inflammation due to scratching irritated skin and the most common is hormonal activity in which we all know it as quot;pubertyquot;. In most cases over the counter treatments are successful in treating this type of acne. The key to kill the acne in this case is to continue to use the products available during the puberty stages. Although it has never been linked directly to the cause of acne, your diet can help with the prevention of acne. Drinking plenty of water helps to hydrate your body and prevents the clogging of the skin pores. Eating more of a balanced diet that gives you all your daily vitamins and minerals you need help build and keep your skin healthy and free of bacteria causing the skin pores to clog.

There are different types of treatments to kill the bacterium that causes acne. One of the common treatments is over the counter medication. These are topical treatments that specialize in cleaning deep down in to the skin pores. Acne cleansing facial soap for different skin types such as dry and oily. There are also astringents that are alcohol based to clean the surface area of the skin. This too helps unclog your pores. But one of the most important treatments is the Benzoyl Peroxide that is found in prescription antibiotic creams. This is the active ingredient that kills the bacteria that causes acne but does not necessarily mean that you will always need a prescription. The over the counter acne creams that have the Benzoyl Peroxide ingredient but with a lesser percentage of strength, it is still qualified to kill the bacteria causing acne.

The severity of the acne can be great and in these cases are typically hereditary. The best treatment for this type is by seeing a dermatologist. The dermatologist can offer several different treatments to cure acne. One of the treatments can be a prescription ointment with the highest percentage of benzoyl peroxide or a very strong oral antibiotic. In some severe cases both treatments can be used together killing the bacteria not only from the outside but from with inside as well. With growing technology, one of the ways to treat acne is called Microdermabrasion. This is a cosmetic treatment that removes dead skin cells and helps to open the pores of your skin to keep them hydrated. This helps keep the pores of your skin from getting clogged and allows the bacteria debris to escape the pores.
