Most every human being has had a battle with acne. In order to choose the correct treatment you should understand what acne is and how some people have more of a battle with it than others. Acne can be cause by genetics, stress, inflammation due to scratching irritated skin and the most common is hormonal activity in which we all know it as quot;pubertyquot;. In most cases over the counter treatments are successful in treating this type of acne. The key to kill the acne in this case is to continue to use the products available during the puberty stages. Although it has never been linked directly to the cause of acne, your diet can help with the prevention of acne. Drinking plenty of water helps to hydrate your body and prevents the clogging of the skin pores. Eating more of a balanced diet that gives you all your daily vitamins and minerals you need help build and keep your skin healthy and free of bacteria causing the skin pores to clog.

There are different types of treatments to kill the bacterium that causes acne. One of the common treatments is over the counter medication. These are topical treatments that specialize in cleaning deep down in to the skin pores. Acne cleansing facial soap for different skin types such as dry and oily. There are also astringents that are alcohol based to clean the surface area of the skin. This too helps unclog your pores. But one of the most important treatments is the Benzoyl Peroxide that is found in prescription antibiotic creams. This is the active ingredient that kills the bacteria that causes acne but does not necessarily mean that you will always need a prescription. The over the counter acne creams that have the Benzoyl Peroxide ingredient but with a lesser percentage of strength, it is still qualified to kill the bacteria causing acne.

The severity of the acne can be great and in these cases are typically hereditary. The best treatment for this type is by seeing a dermatologist. The dermatologist can offer several different treatments to cure acne. One of the treatments can be a prescription ointment with the highest percentage of benzoyl peroxide or a very strong oral antibiotic. In some severe cases both treatments can be used together killing the bacteria not only from the outside but from with inside as well. With growing technology, one of the ways to treat acne is called Microdermabrasion. This is a cosmetic treatment that removes dead skin cells and helps to open the pores of your skin to keep them hydrated. This helps keep the pores of your skin from getting clogged and allows the bacteria debris to escape the pores.

Myths about acne die hard. Old wives’ tales about its causes continue to persist, in spite of scientific condition to the contrary. This article aims to shed light on some common myths about acne and attempts to separate fact from fiction. Myth 1: People who have acne are unclean and maintain poor hygiene There is absolutely no truth to this statement. Acne is caused by a hormonal imbalance in the body. When the oil glands responsible for keeping our skin waterproof and moist, over react to produce excessive quantities of sebum, they block the associated hair follicle, causing clogged pores, which develops into acne. So hygiene has absolutely nothing to do with it. In fact unnecessary scrubbing of the skin can exacerbate the problem. Do take care of your skin though – wash your face gently and pat dry. Click for All Natural Cure For Stopping Acne In 3 Days! Myth 2: Eating the wrong foods will lead to acne The fact is that there is no co-relation between what you eat and acne. The chocolates, the French fires, the cheese pizza, and all those other fatty foods that have been lambasted ever so often, because of their unhealthy consequence have no affect whatsoever on your skin. However, eating a well balanced diet makes sense. So while you don’t have to be concerned as to whether your favorite treat affects your skin, do remember that it does affect your overall health. Myth 3: Acne is caused by stress The truth is that the stress that most of us experience as part of our day-to-day existence does not lead to acne. Sometimes, acne can arise as the side-effect of drugs taken to treat severe stress. Talk to your doctor to find out if your stress medication is responsible for your acne. Click for All Natural Cure For Stopping Acne In 3 Days! Myth 4: Acne is a merely a cosmetic disease Well, acne does affect the way you look and yes, it is considered a threat to your physical well being. However, the fact remains that in some cases acne can lead to permanent scarring which is more than just purely cosmetic. Acne affects people psychologically. It is known to affect their perception of themselves, their self-esteem and confidence and their interaction with others. It can cause feelings of frustration, depression and social embarrassment. Myth 5: Acne will take the time it will take to heal With the kind of products that are available in the market today, there is no reason why anyone should have to suffer the agony caused by acne. The fact is that acne can be cleared up with the right medication. Consult your dermatologist if you have acne. Click for All Natural Cure For Stopping Acne In 3 Days!br

How to Reduce and Treat Acne

How to reduce and treat acne is a problem for people of all ages, especially children. To dispel any rumors, here are 8 common myths dispelled associated with acne. #1. Acne is caused by oil in your skin, not by the dirt on your face. Therefore, the more you clean your skin, the better your acne will get is a false assumption. While it’s important to cleanse your skin twice a day, cleaning more than that can overly dry your skin. Many experts believe cleansing all the time will actually worsen the condition. #2. Consuming fatty foods will worsen your acne. Specific food groups, such as fast food and chocolate, should not trigger breakouts; however, some people have breakouts due to reactions from certain foods. If you break out after eating a certain food, avoid it in the future. Your overall diet also contributes to skin health. Click for All Natural Cure For Stopping Acne In 3 Days! #3. The notion that stress causes breakouts is an erroneous one. Research has shown that breakouts are not triggered by stressful situations. If you experience acne problems before a big or stressful event, take note of what you do with your hands. Sometimes leaning your face on your hands can cause a breakout. #4. While acne may clear up on its own, most people are under the false impression that acne only afflicts teenagers; however, anyone from babies to women in their 40’s can experience acne. If your method of treatment does not help, seek the advice of a dermatologist. #5. While covering pimples with make-up may make them worse, as long as you use the right make-up, it should not cause breakouts. Buy make-up which has a chemical free base. If possible, avoid make-up until the acne dissipates. Just like food, different ingredients in make-up can cause a reaction and result in a breakout. Click for All Natural Cure For Stopping Acne In 3 Days! #6. Pimples go away after you pop them. Never, ever pop a zit. Contrary to popular belief, squeezing pimples can make them worse rather than better. Popping a zit can cause infection, increase the likelihood of scarring, and slow healing. #7. The notion that if one type of medication or topical cream doesn’t work; you have to live with acne. There is more than one way to treat acne. If one method doesn’t work, keep trying. Also, it sometimes takes a while for any non-prescription medication or topical cream to work. Don’t worry if a treatment doesn’t work after a week. #8. A tan can clear up acne. While a tan may make acne less visible, it will do nothing to clear up a breakout. Regular tanning can make your skin look old much faster as well as promotes skin cancers. The permanent damage you cause is not worth decreasing the appearance of pimples. It is advisable to stay out of the sun during an acne breakout. Have you ever had a job interview or first date only to discover the day of the event that your face is covered with zits? While some may think its a coincidence the truth is stress causes acne. Learning how to deal with pimples is not as hard as you think and by reading this article you will also learn how to manage stress related acne.

We all get acne from time to time and its normal. Millions of adults suffer from acne outbreaks and while there are many factors that cause an outbreak, stress is the biggest. Our bodys hormone level fluctuates daily and when something stressful happens it causes an imbalance in our hormones. This imbalance releases chemicals in our bodies which can sometimes induce an acne outbreak. Luckily stress related acne is easy to manage, if you know how to eliminate the source of the stress.

There are several ways to get rid of stress. The first and best method is to exercise. Exercising helps the body sweat out toxins and often time the endorphins released will cause a person to feel great. I advise people to exercise at minimum 30 minutes a day. I suggest finding something you enjoy whether it is swimming, running or even a fast paced walk.

Another way of handling stress is to meditate or practice yoga. This will help you be in tune with your body and will help your stress levels to decline. Its important to figure out a way to keep calm because when our hormones fluctuate severely it causes the acid levels to be out of balance.

Diet also plays a role in learning how to deal with pimples because when we are stressed we tend to go for junk foods. Instead of junk foods try and always have some healthy options with you at all times. I have found nuts and fruit to be a good source of vitamins and they are really convenient when you feel the need to snack. Drinking water is also important in balancing hormone levels. The great thing about water is it will help your bodys hormone levels to straighten out.

There are many other factors that contribute to adult acne; however stress is the one we can have the most control over. This method is best used when combined with a good skin cleaning regimen. By following these steps above you will learn how to deal with pimples and have insight on how to manage stress related acne.

Tips to Beautiful and Radiant Skin

Skin care does not begin with treatment of skin, acne, pimples etc., as the saying goes Prevention is better than cure, skin care is all about prevention, precaution and proactive damage control. From stores to supermarkets to malls, you would find an innumberable number of skin treatment lotions of multi-varieties promising you the perfect skin tone you have always been looking for. Not surprising though, that only a small percentage of these creams come anywhere close to our expectation, for the very reason that every one of us have different skin tone and textures that require specific treatment.

Water is one of the best ingredients for a good skin. Consumption of good, purified water can make your otherwise dry skin hydrated and keep it in good condition.

If you suffer from any form of insomnia, chronic lack of sleep, or plain sleepless nights, you know why your skin is not reacting to all the treatment you pamper it with. Sleep is crucial to ensure a good growth and skin tone. A minimum of 6-8 hours sleep at night is recommended by physicians.

You must remember that all your cosmetics have a shelf life. Ensure you replace your sponges every three months or if they remain unused, then within six months from the date of manufacture. The average life of any cosmetic usually ranges anywhere between 6 – 12 months.

If you have an oil skin, the simple yet effective way of curing it is by simply cutting a lemon into half. Rub the content of the lemon on your face and leave it for a while. Rinse with cold water thereafter.

Vegetables are a great source for skin toning. You could apply slices of potatoes and apply it on your closed eyes. It not only cools the eyes, it also reduces black circles and enlivens the otherwise dry skin.

Fruits are another good source for the skin. Strawberries for example are renowned skin smoothners. They also are effective acne fighters. They produce a salicylic acid which is usually found in many acne skin care products. For a quick solution, you may want to crush half a cup of strawberries along with half a up of plain yogurt. This mixture needs to be applied to the face; the result would speak for itself. Bananas also contain smoothing ingredients. A ripe banana mashed up and applied over the skin is another short and effective face skin cure.

While we talk about the foods, vegetables and recipes and other natural intakes to invigorate skin care, we should also make mention of the do nots in respect of skin care. Condiments viz., cakes, sugar, fat-free icreams are generically categorized as high glycemic ones. This effectively means that a lot of carbohydrates are digested at the time of consumption. Any high glycemic food intake can trigger off acne.

Consumption of foods with less glycemic content is more healthy for the skin. Food grains, fruits and vegetables can be examples of low glycemic foods.

A proper balanced and controlled diet care is a pre-requisite to pre-empt any face skin related issues.br

Acne Vulgaris – Causes, Symptoms And Treatment

br
Acne vulgaris

Acne vulgaris is a common skin disorder. It is acne vulgaris is a common skin disorder affecting at least 85 percent of adolescents and young adults. When you have just a few red spots, or pimples, you have a mild form of acne. Some people with severe acne are not bothered by it. Others are embarrassed or upset even though they have only a few pimples.

Causes

For most people, acne starts during the teen years. This is because hormone changes after puberty make the skin oilier. The condition results in part from excessive stimulation of the skin by androgens (male hormones). Bacterial infection of the skin also appears to play a role. During puberty, hormone levels rise and skin glands make more oil (sebum). The oils job is to keep your skin moist. Acne gets its start when the oil mixes with dead skin cells. Acne can also cause psychological stress and be socially disabling. An early effective treatment is therefore imperative.

Symptoms

Papules and pustules are red lesions 2 to 5 mm in diameter. In both, the follicular epithelium becomes damaged with accumulation of neutrophils and then lymphocytes. Acne develops most often on the face, neck, chest, shoulders, or back and can range from mild to severe. It can last for a few months, many years, or come and go your entire life.

Treatment

Sometimes your doctor will combine treatments to get the best results and to avoid developing drug resistant bacteria. If taking extra zinc, your body will need 1 to 2 mg each day of copper to avoid deficiency of this mineral.

Topical agents, which comprise first-line therapy for both comedonal and inflammatory acne, are continually being refined to eliminate side effects and improve compliance.

Benzoyl peroxide is the treatment of choice. It is as effective as any other topical treatment, and is relatively cheap. As with other topical treatment, benzoyl peroxide can cause local irritation. It can bleach dyed fabrics.

Permanent, disfiguring scars can be prevented by treatment with the retinoid isotretinoin. It can only be prescribed by, or under the supervision of, a consultant dermatologist, and patients who take it require careful monitoring.

A prescription gel or cream for your skin may be all you need. Your doctor may also order antibiotic pills. A mix of treatments may work best. If you are female, taking certain birth control pills may help./pbr

The Main Cause Of Acne – Sebum

Sunday, 29. November 2009

Author: CD Mohattabr
Source: isnare.combr
br
Sebum plays the biggest role in formation of acne. If there were no sebum, there would be no acne. To know more about how sebum is responsible for acne and what role it plays, let us study more about how acne forms.

Acne forms near the opening of the sebaceous glands that have hair follicle in them. In normal circumstances, the cells that form the wall of the gland exfoliate from the pore opening. Sometimes, these cells become dysfunctional and instead of exfoliating normally, block the pore opening. This block stops the sebum going out on the skin.

In the meantime, the glands keep producing sebum and if hormonal disturbance is present, the glands produce sebum at a higher rate. This sebum keeps filling the gland sac. That is the beginning of acne.

A bacterium called Proprionobacterium acnes (P. acnes) thrive in the atmosphere that is full of sebum and no air. This bacterium infects the gland. At this stage when the bacteria are flourishing and causing inflammation, the gland is producing more sebum and the pore is blocked, the gland becomes very infective and full of dead cells, bacteria, pus and dead skin. This is what we call as a pimple. When a pimple gets much bigger, it is called a cyst. Now you know that acne is mainly caused by blocked sebum and infection inside the sebum. Let us know more about how and why sebum is produced.

The Latin meaning of sebum is fat. You find that your hair becomes oily if you leave it unwashed for few days, isnt it? That is because of sebum. Sebum is produced by the sebaceous glands in the skin. From there sebum comes out and coats the hair follicles. Traveling through the hair, sebum reaches the surface of the skin. There it mixes with other lipids and sweat and forms a coating on the skin. Sweat, lipids and environmental dirt are other ingredients of the oil on the skin. This oil protects skin from bacterial infection. It also reduces the natural water loss from the skin.

The density of sebaceous glands varies. Sebaceous glands are found most on the forehead, chin and middle portion of the back. That is why most acne is found on these places. Sebum production decreases with age. . Sebum production increases suddenly at the time of puberty. In women, it reduces substantially after menopause. Adult females produce less sebum than men. By reducing sebum production, acne can be cured. Sebum production can be controlled by various medicines.
